Document film about spirits, illness and healing.

Kusum is a regular 14-year-old Indian girl. She lives in Delhi, goes to school and thinks about her future. Until she falls ill. Kusum stops eating, she isolates herself and is haunted by severe tantrums. Evil spirits have attacked the family, says Bhagat, an experienced healer.

KUSUM is a film about a family's struggle against misfortune, bad circumstances and illness. Through Kusum's story we are able to grasp many things understood as enigmatic. Don't all families around the world have similar struggles? Are spirits in the end just another expression for mental illnesses? Or is this about religion and something paranormal? What is troubling Kusum, and why does she recover? That will remain for the viewer to decide.
